Thanks.io pricing: three plans and one per-piece rate
Thanks.io sells three plans: Pay as you go, Business and Professional. Pay as you go has no monthly fee. The other two charge a monthly fee and give a lower per-piece rate on every product. The rate is set by your plan, not by the size of a batch, so one postcard and ten thousand cost the same each.
The pricing FAQ says every per-piece rate covers printing, handwriting, the mail piece and US domestic postage, with no setup, onboarding, template or account fees and no minimums. Amounts are left to the live pricing page, which shows its own update date of July 12, 2026. This guide reads the vendor's pricing page, FAQ and terms as of October 24, 2026 and checks them against each other.
What each plan adds beyond a lower rate
- Pay as you go: API access, the AI design studio, Canva integration, per-recipient AI messaging, dynamic personalization and single sends.
- Business adds: QR creation and scan tracking, webhooks, Zapier and Make, date-dripped, birthday and holiday campaigns, address verification, CSV export, suppression lists, gift-card sending and removal of the Thanks stamp branding.
- Professional adds: a dedicated success manager, design and messaging services and the lowest per-piece rates. API and automation consultations start on Business.
- Standard Mail: the pricing table lists Standard sending as a Business and Professional feature, and the page says those plans' rates are Standard Mail.
Fees and add-ons that change the total
- First Class: the page lists it as a small per-piece upgrade, larger for products other than postcards. It does not state in text which class the Pay as you go rate assumes, so ask before comparing.
- Extra pages: letters carry a charge for each page beyond the first.
- Gift cards: Business or Professional only, priced as the card rate plus the gift amount.
- Data services: email-to-address and address-to-email lookups, IP-to-address lookups and radius address search are charged per lookup or per address on every plan, and the Print Protect coating is charged per card.
- International: priced separately and sent with First Class equivalent postage. Gift cards and multi-page letters are US-only.
- Non-profits and agencies: the FAQ mentions special non-profit rates and white-label or volume terms for agencies on request.
Credits, renewals and refunds: terms that affect the total
- Credits: purchased credits are non-refundable and never expire. Promotional credits last 90 days and apply to printing only.
- Renewal: paid plans renew automatically. Monthly plans can be canceled at any time, and cancellation does not refund earlier periods.
- Annual plans: the terms describe a twelve-month commitment that ends at the close of the term, so ask to cancel before the renewal date.
- Courtesy refund: a cancellation within about 3 to 5 business days after a renewal may get a one-time refund at the vendor's discretion.
- Orders and lists: a canceled order is refunded to your account within 30 minutes, while list purchases and appends are final sales.
- Where pages differ: the pricing FAQ says you can cancel a plan at any time with one click, while the terms add the annual commitment. Read the terms for your billing cycle.
Is a paid plan worth it? A break-even method with your own numbers
A higher plan pays for itself only at enough volume. Take the monthly fee gap between two plans and the per-piece rate gap for the product you send, then divide the fee gap by the rate gap. The answer is the number of pieces a month at which the higher plan breaks even. Below it the lower plan is cheaper, above it the higher plan is. Use your busiest realistic month, and add any First Class upgrade to both totals.
The pricing page has a plan calculator that totals all three plans from your quantities. Features can settle the choice before cost does: scan tracking, webhooks and automated campaigns are not on Pay as you go. The Thanks.io review covers where the service fits, and how to mail postcards for business shows what mailing without a service involves.
