What Thanks.io is, in plain language
Thanks.io is a software service for sending physical mail. Its about page dates it to 2017, and its FAQ describes a platform for postcards, letters, notecards, gift cards and magnet cards that look handwritten. You do not print, stuff or stamp anything. You upload a design and recipients, and the vendor prints, assembles and mails each piece from its facility in Texas. This guide reads the vendor's FAQ, documentation, pricing page and terms as of October 24, 2026.
How Thanks.io works from design to mailbox
- Design: pick a saved creative, which is a front design plus a message, or build one in the dashboard. The pricing page lists an AI design studio and Canva sync.
- Recipients: upload a list, connect a CRM, or send one piece at a time from the dashboard or the API.
- Order: orders placed before 11am Central time are processed the same business day, and later ones the next business day.
- Mail: First Class is estimated at 5 to 10 business days from the print date and Standard at 10 to 20. The terms say these are estimates.
- Follow-up: on a paid plan, a scan of the QR code can notify you, move the recipient to another list or fire a webhook.
The parts: mailers, handwriting engine, QR codes and campaigns
- Mailers: 4x6, 6x9 and 6x11 postcards, windowed and windowless letters, 5x4 folded notecards with a real stamp, gift cards and 6x9 magnetic cards.
- Handwriting: a proprietary digital engine with several fonts, an AI Fonts mode and a Realism Mode that adds uneven spacing and occasional crossouts. The FAQ says it is not real pens.
- QR codes: each recipient can get a unique code, with scans logged by name, list, order and time.
- Campaigns: ten types, including drip after a contact is added, birthday, anniversary, holiday, specific date, monthly, yearly and two paced-sending modes.
- Connections: a REST API on every plan with a test mode, HubSpot natively, and Zapier, Make, n8n and Pipedream for other tools.
Who uses Thanks.io and when it fits
- The vendor says it is used across real estate, mortgage, insurance, online stores, software, agencies, home services and non-profits.
- Uses it lists: follow-up after a lead, abandoned-cart postcards, birthday and anniversary mail and customer gift cards.
- Fit: a small business that wants mail triggered by a customer event, wants postage bundled in the rate and wants to start without a monthly fee.
- Poor fit: anyone who needs ink from real pens, or whose customers have no street addresses on file.
Boundaries and limits to know before you start
- Paid features: scan tracking, webhooks, Zapier and Make connections and automated campaigns need Business or Professional, according to the pricing table.
- Postage: US postage is included. International pieces are priced separately and some countries are unsupported.
- Tracking: Standard postage carries no USPS tracking and undeliverable pieces are discarded, while First Class returns them to your return address.
- Volume: the terms say direct mail works best in bulk campaigns and that individual pieces can show handling effects.
- Content: the acceptable use policy bars deceptive or unlawful content, and you remain responsible for the law that applies to your mailing.
